BASEMENT CLEANOUT

Upfront prices. On-time crew. Nothing for you to lift.

Nobody plans to fill a basement. It happens one box at a time. The boxes from your last move. The crib the kids outgrew. The treadmill that turned into a place to hang laundry. Then a wet April comes along, and half of it smells like the floor drain.

We are a local, woman-owned junk removal company on West Street in Paxton, and basements are a big part of our week. You show us what goes. We carry it up those narrow stairs, load the truck, and leave you with a clear, open floor. You don’t lift a thing.

Why Basements Around Here Fill Up So Fast

A lot of it comes down to the age of our homes. A 2023 study reported by the Worcester Business Journal ranked the Greater Worcester metro as having the eighth oldest housing stock among midsize metros in the country. The median home in the region is about 55 years old, and half of the housing was built before 1967.

Inside the city it goes back further. Census survey figures show roughly 4 in 10 Worcester homes were built in 1939 or earlier. Older homes mean stone or block foundations, low ceilings, tight stairs and bulkhead doors. They also mean damp corners. Cardboard boxes soak up that moisture, and old upholstered furniture holds onto the smell.

Add a Central Mass winter, a few seasons of snowmelt, and a family that never throws anything away, and the basement becomes the place things go to be forgotten. A cleanout fixes that in one visit.

LOCAL KNOW-HOW

Basement Cleanouts Town by Town

We serve Paxton, Worcester, Holden, Rutland, Princeton, Leicester, Spencer, West Boylston, Sterling, Shrewsbury and Auburn. Each town has its own kind of basement.

Paxton, Holden, Rutland and Princeton

Paxton is home base, a town of about 5,000 people, so a Paxton basement cleanout is often a short drive for our crew. Many homes here sit on larger lots with a bulkhead door, and that bulkhead is usually the fastest way out. Next door, Holden is the biggest of the hill towns at just under 20,000 residents, and a lot of Holden basement calls come from families who have lived in the same house for decades. Rutland grew about 12 percent between 2010 and 2019 by state estimates, so we see a lot of newer homes where a finished-basement project left behind drywall, carpet and old furniture. Princeton, with about 3,500 people, has older farmhouses and fieldstone cellars where boxes have sat for decades.

Worcester

Worcester is a city of more than 206,000 people, and its basements are their own world. In a triple-decker, the basement is often shared, with each unit keeping a storage cage or a corner. When tenants move on, their stuff tends to stay. We clear single-family basements in Tatnuck, Greendale and Burncoat, and shared basements in Vernon Hill, Grafton Hill and around Webster Square.

Shrewsbury, West Boylston and Sterling

Shrewsbury has about 38,000 residents, and a common call there is a finished lower level that went from playroom to storage room once the kids grew up. West Boylston and Sterling each have just under 8,000 people. Basements there often double as the workshop, so we haul out old benches, scrap wood and broken tools along with the boxes.

Leicester, Spencer and Auburn

Leicester and Spencer each have roughly 11,000 to 12,000 residents and a long mill-town history, with older homes in villages like Cherry Valley and Rochdale and along Main Street in Spencer. Auburn, with close to 17,000 people, is a quick hop for us down Route 12. In all three, we see a lot of basements cleared out ahead of a sale or a move.
